The Hekate Key is inspired by the Greek goddess Hekate and is a powerful symbol for personal transformation, affirming boundaries, accessing new insight, and spiritual growth. This handmade ceramic key is shaped like a dog, Hekate’s trusted companion.
Hekate (or Hecate), aka The Lightbearer in Darkness, is the Greek goddess of magic, the moon, and crossroads, among other things. Over time she has been represented with various stories or attributes. But she is mostly recognized as the goddess of boundaries and thresholds, both physical and metaphysical. Hekate guides the deceased into the underworld, as well as the living through stages of personal transformation, including birth. She is often depicted with dogs (usually black dogs), who are both her protectors and proteges. Her symbol is the key, for she has the ability to unlock mysteries.
This key is meant as a companion and talisman for those navigating life changes, seeking clarity about their path or decisions they have to make, or on a journey to reclaim their voice, assert their boundaries or let go of what no longer serves them.
This Hekate Key is meant as a symbol of the divine feminine and of our sacred partnership with dogs.
It is a reminder that we are never truly lost.
