My 2021 Rescue Road Trip
I had always dreamed of doing a rescue road trip (driving across the U.S. and visiting rescues), and when we learned that we were relocating to Los Angeles from New York, we decided this was the perfect time to drive and take this big country in. I honestly still can’t believe we did it! I have so many stories and photos to share.

Early October, I organized a fundraiser in support of Riviera Rescue, a Mexican rescue I’ve been supporting since I visited them back in 2018. The fundraiser was a huge success, and these are the things your money helped with!

Diamond (now Rue), and adopting a challenging dog
Diamond was rescued after Hurricane Irma in Florida (2017). She moved to New York and stayed in the care of Anima lHaven for months before finding her family. Diamond had behavioral issues, and was not good with other dogs. That would have pushed most adopters away, but once Rachel and Cameron saw her photo, they knew she was theirs (follow their adventures at @ruethepitbull).

Fulton County Animal Services saw an increase in fosters after my recent post!
A few years back, I visited Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta, GA. The shelter is always full (mostly pit bulls), and way over capacity. It was built to accommodate about 90 animals, and they usually have about 300... They receive over 16,000 animals every year.
