This is Lisa, a breeder mom who was abandoned at the city shelter in Miami, a few years back. She was adopted. Lisa is an example of how breeder moms are often treated: used until their body breaks, then abandoned. I created this image while thinking about motherhood. Motherhood is considered to be one of the most sacred things on earth, but when it comes to the way we produce our companion animals, motherhood takes a whole other flavor.
This hand-stitched embroidery took about 50h to complete.
